Remembrance of things past
It was the title of one of Marcel Proust's great works.
A friend of mine who is also a psychiatrist told me that one of the great tools in psycho-therapy is helping patients go back and summon up the remembrance of the most beautiful, meaningful and warmest times in their life.
I often use photos in this manner. To transport me to places and times that were most dear to me. In the midst of blizzards I dream of spring.
